Summer vacation 14 - Sanriku coast

Next stop from Matsushima was Miyako, towards the northern end of the Sanriku coast. With about 260 km almost a trip for a full day. As in Matsushima the traffic already backed up and the weather started getting bad again, I left it with a short walk from the hotel to one of the famous overview spots, from where you can overlook the bay.

Then I left, heading North. I would come through a lot of cities, that were heavily struck by the Tsunami in 2011. The whole area was hit hard. Most areas are cleared up now and you can find a lot of new houses and shops, built mostly on higher grounds. A lot of the low areas are just cleaned out. In one town they seem to refill the area, that was washed away, with a system of connected conveyor belts

A lot of the sightseeing spots, that share the beauty of the coast are reopened now and it is really worth visit her. One of the spots is Goishi coast.

The sightseeing boats, that would have given a good view from the water side, where not operating because of the heavy waves due to the upcoming Taifun. But also the views from the top of the cliffs gave a good impression

And lots of pretty flowers again,

some of them with 'decoration'
